Swiping between gestures panels has always been a bit of a pain. If you don’t swipe from the edge you might activate a control. Sometimes when you want to activate a gesture it swipes instead.
Automatic switching would help this issue. For example on an IP device like an Apple TV the state of the device is known. It’s either in playback mode or in menu browsing mode. You need a gesture panel for each mode. But they could be programmed to switch automatically. As soon as you hit play it could switch to the playback panel. When stopped it could switch to the cursor panel. I hate this ambiguous swiping method so much I’d even prefer a button to switch panels. However there is no reason why automatic switching cannot be implemented for IP devices. It would be a great feature.
