PDP PlayStation 4 IR Receiver For Logitech Harmony

I was hoping someone had any insight on controlling the ps4 since the new pdp adaptor is finally out? I have it set up and have tried several options (ps2, logitech adaptor for ps3, etc.), but can’t get it to respond to the ps4.

I used to use it back on the ps3 with harmony’s old adaptor, but it looks like their’s not a default ir code setting for the ps4 yet?

thanks

btw, i opened a trouble ticket on the subject as well.

Sounds like you’re talking about an infrared device. Why not just learn the codes with the learning functionality?

is the ps4 remote ir? i thought it was bluetooth so i wasn’t sure that it would learn codes. is there another ir ps4 remote you’d recommend? thanks

You called it an IR receiver in your title so I assume that’s what you mean.

Yes, the new pdp from playstation is an ir receiver, but it was created to work with harmony (ir). I was just referring to the official ps4 remote which I believe was Bluetooth (not allowing me to learn or codes).

I guess I could get a harmony to learn simple control codes, but I was hoping you guys had built in ir codes for the ps4 so I wouldn’t have to go down that path. If not, maybe a future release for ps4 ir codes? Tks

We will be adding a codeset for this soon. It seems to be working fine. I have not yet found a way to cause it to perform a discrete power off – the Harmony does not seem to support that and/or the PDP device doesn’t support it. Possibly just haven’t found it yet. In any case, we’ll add a codeset to the library for it soon. If it doesn’t have an actual power off, it does respond to PS, up, multiple right, in order to get to the power off button on screen.

Ideally, we’d add this via a generated code list from the manufacturer, but regardless the codes are easy to learn not an uncommon IR protocol so there’s no risk. We’ll update it later if any more codes exist in the event the manufacturer sends information.

This codeset is now live in production for V5 (along with several thousands other codeset updates as part of regular deployment). Type Game System, brand PDP.

It can take up to 24 hours for all devices to recognize new code sets.

Awesome. Thank you!

Will, first off I wanted to say I really appreciate the help and I now have everything working. As for the power on and off, it looks as if some users are able to get this working thru the Harmony activity shutdown (pic below using the Harmony HUB). I’m not sure if there’s a way to mimic the Harmony code set, but just though I’d give you a heads up. Someone also posted a “ps” button code which apparently also works to turn the console on by using ir commands to micro a ps button hold for 2 seconds (just as you can do this the ps4 controller).

ir codes for ps button 2 sec hold: PS-long

Anyway, I understand if it’s not possible, but as always I really appreciate your help,

We already have the PS button in the published set, and you can always repeat it to hold it down. Regardless, if you want to experiment, that code you pasted is just a Pronto code so we support it without modification.

ok cool, i must have missed that button someone. so how would you recommend to mimic the hold? just add multiple repeats you said?

thanks

Will, Do you know which one is the PS button?

MENU MAIN is always the primary command for that, similarly across many devices.

Will, I can confirm that main menu powers on the ps4 when I use the “continual push” as the delay, but it’s grayed out when trying to select it as part of the activity. I’ve tried using repeat and/or multiple commands, but it won’t power on the device.

my question, am i missing something that’s not allowing me to use “continual push” as part of the activity?

thanks
